Meditation for a clear mind and a calm head

Breathe new life into yourself with the Clear Mind Meditation

The Aquarian Age is a busy and hectic time. Under the pressure and hustle of the ever-changing demands of modern life, many people are becoming stressed, exhausted and burned out. This constant pressure of performance and information can make you feel stressed and anxious. Now more than ever, it is important to take some time to relax and unwind. When you are feeling overwhelmed and want some space (in your head), a short meditation can be just the thing you need.

Meditation to calm and quiet your mind

One meditation that you can use is the Kundalini Yoga meditation for a “Clear Mind”. When you are going to do this meditation make sure that you are ready to relax, to be able to absorb the feeling of calm. While there is a lot of pressure in the world, this practice encourages feelings of serenity and calm.

Regardless of how long you’ve been practicing Kundalini Yoga, you can use this meditation to relax whenever you need it. You might want to try it for 11 days, as a daily routine, or just use it when you’re feeling stressed or overworked.

Meditation for clarity of mind

How to do this meditation

When you have a full and busy head, you can't think clearly it is wise to come to rest for a moment. This Kundalini Yoga technique will support you with that.  There are many tools such as meditations, yoga poses and breathing techniques within Kundalini yoga that you can use. This is a very effective meditation.

Attitude

Sit in a meditative posture. Whether you are sitting on the floor or in a chair (or as I sometimes did, in my office in the toilet) make sure your back is straight, your chin slightly tucked in and your sternum lifted.

Mudra

Cup your hands and rest your left hand in your right (women) with both palms facing up. Men should rest their right hand in their left, also with palms facing up.

Let your thumbs point away from you. Then bring your hands to the center of your chest at the level of your diaphragm. Let your arms hang relaxed, resting against the sides of your body.

Eyes

During this meditation, keep your eyes *almost* closed. You will see a tiny slit of light through your eyelashes. When you first start, it can be difficult to get the hang of this position. But the more you practice, the easier it will become to keep your eyes slightly open.

Mantra

For this meditation you have to repeat the Gurmukh mantra 'Gobind(a) Gobind(a) Haree Haree'. The mantra is one continuous chant. This also regulates your breathing rhythm.

Try to change monotonously, stay on 1 pitch and purse your lips into an “o”.

While chanting, try to remain as monotone as possible. Pucker your lips as if you were going to kiss someone when you say "Ga." When you say "Bind," press your tongue against your front teeth.

And finally, at the word 'Haree'; smile.

Time

You can choose how long you want to do this meditation to calm your mind. There is no limit to how long you can practice. To be able to completely withdraw, it is nice to set a timer. Then you do not have to pay attention to the time during the meditation.

If you want to practice this meditation for 11 days, start with 3 minutes for example and build it up by 1 minute every day, until you reach 11 minutes for example.
